The single point mooring (SPM) system is an indispensable key technology in modern offshore oil transportation. Through a series of sophisticated mooring and transmission equipment, it ensures that tankers can safely and stably carry out loading and unloading operations of petroleum products in complex and changeable sea conditions. As an important part of offshore oil transportation, the SPM system not only improves operational efficiency, but also greatly enhances the safety of offshore operations.
The core function of the SPM system is to ensure that tankers can load and unload petroleum products safely and stably in severe sea conditions through a series of complex mooring and transmission equipment. The system mainly consists of buoys, mooring and anchoring elements, product transfer systems and other auxiliary equipment.
As the core part of the system, the buoy moors the tanker to a mooring point through the bow, allowing it to act freely around the point as a weathervane, thereby minimizing the forces generated by wind, waves and currents. The mooring and anchoring elements firmly fix the buoy to the seabed through anchors, anchor chains, chain stops and other equipment to ensure its stability in extreme environments. The product transmission system safely transports petroleum products from the submarine pipeline to the tanker through the crude oil export pipeline, and is equipped with safety devices such as marine safety break valves (MBC) on the pipeline to prevent oil leaks. The design and operation of the entire system strictly follow the standards of the Oil Companies International Maritime Forum (OCIMF), ensuring the efficiency and safety of offshore oil transportation.
