Expansion Joint
The Expansion Joint is mainly used on the dredgers to the connect the dredge pump and pipeline, and to connect the pipelines on deck. Due to the flexibility of the hose body, it can provide a certain amount of expansion and contraction to compensate the gap between the pipes and facilitate the installation and maintenance of the equipment. The Expansion Joint has a good shock absorption effect during operation and plays a protective role for the equipment.
The Expansion Joint is a kind of rubber hose with short length and generally less than 1m in length. It can be designed to withstand a wide range of pressure ratings. Expansion Joints can be designed and built to withstand negative pressure, such as “-0.1 MPa”, and to withstand positive pressures, such as “1.0 MPa”, “2.5 MPa”, and even to withstand both negative pressure and positive pressure, such as “-0.1 MPa ~ 1.5 MPa”, thus Expansion Joint is applicable to different pressure conditions.
The Expansion Joint has following types: Expansion Joint with Steel Nipple, Expansion Joint with Sandwich Flange and Expansion Joint with reducing bore.

Application
Expansion Joint is a necessary part for important systems of large Cutter Suction Dredger(CSD) and Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger(TSHD), it is applied in jet water hose system, tank loading piping system, the front and rear pipe of the pump, and the deck piping system. The Expansion Joints produced by CDSR have been deeply trusted by domestic and foreign users.
It is necessary to pay attention to the relationship between the length of Expansion Joint and the space for installation, as it is related to the service life of the product. Normally the length of the Expansion Joint is 0~5mm shorter than the space where it is installed, and the maximum installation clearance shall not exceed 10mm for long Expansion Joint(nearly 1m long). In case the installation clearance is too large, the Expansion Joint will always be stretched and this may damage its structure.
